Midnight Newark Theatre reviews
Love these guys, but fire the sound guy.
It was absolutely oppressively loud!!! I wore earplugs the whole time, but it was still painfully loud. I could feel the bass drum in my chest and my ears were ringing for many hours after the concert was over. Holy crap, it doesn't make any sense, folks! So sorry that people came for joy and got hearing damage. I like my music nice and loud, but this was past the pain threshold. I saw many people plugging their ears and sometimes I covered mine too even with the earplugs. You couldn't even hear the detail in the sound because it was so loud. One time the drummer did a double bass-drum roll and it drowned out the band to where you couldn't even hear the rest of the band. I love these guys, esp. Billy Gibbons. I was so looking forward to this, everything about this would have been five stars, except one - so sorry that I have to complain here. The electric bass was indistinct; it was hard to discern individual notes at all because of the wall of pain. Hard to understand any words being sung.
